Forbes Names Best CUs!

Five Dakota credit unions are recognized for member satisfaction and willingness to recommend to friends and family. 

Five Dakota credit unions were recently singled out by Forbes for their outstanding member satisfaction based on a Statista survey of approximately 26,000 U.S. residents.

Participants were asked to name all the banks and credit unions where they currently have—and previously had—a checking or savings account, and to identify financial institutions they know through the experiences of friends and family. Respondents were then asked to share their level of satisfaction, their willingness to recommend it to others, and to rate the organization based on criteria including: trust, customer service, digital tools, the quality of financial advice given and whether fees were transparent and reasonable.

In addition, survey responses from the last three years were also taken into consideration, with more recent data weighted more heavily. Statista collected online text reviews and ratings posted between February 2022 and March 2025; this research accounted for 20 percent of the scoring and the surveys accounted for 80 percent. Large banks and credit unions with branches in more than 15 U.S. states were excluded, and companies pay no fees to participate or to be selected.

All told, 222 credit unions and 191 banks were ranked in one or more states, with five Dakota credit unions emerging as top contenders. Congratulations to:
