Six Dakota credit unions have been recognized on Forbes' 2026 America's Best-In-State Credit Unions list, highlighting their commitment to delivering exceptional service, value, and member experiences.
To compile the rankings, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista and surveyed approximately 26,000 U.S. residents. Respondents were asked about their satisfaction with financial institutions where they currently hold, or have recently held, checking or savings accounts, as well as institutions they know through the experiences of friends and family. Participants evaluated organizations on factors including trust, customer service, digital services, financial advice, and fee transparency. Additionally, more than 1.2 million publicly available reviews and ratings were analyzed as part of the scoring process. Online-only institutions and larger financial institutions with branches in 15 or more states were excluded from consideration. Survey responses accounted for 80% of each institution's score, while online reviews contributed the remaining 20%. In total, 246 credit unions nationwide earned recognition on the 2026 list.
