Explorers Credit Union (CU) recently partnered with SalesCU, a professional development organization specializing in credit union–specific sales training and leadership development, to host a series of full-day onsite workshops for staff. SalesCU, a recognized partner of the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU), provides credit unions across the Dakotas with resources and training to strengthen member engagement and build a sustainable sales culture. The experience proved to be transformational.
“What stood out immediately was the level of engagement,” said April Tompkins, CEO at Explorers CU. “Despite the length of the sessions, the time flew by thanks to dynamic facilitation and fresh, relevant content tailored to the credit union environment.” Historically, the word “sales” carried a negative connotation among the team. Through these workshops, that mindset was successfully reframed. Sales is now viewed not as pushing products, but as supporting members in achieving their needs, wants, and dreams. The SalesCU program helped staff see how meaningful conversations can lead to deeper relationships and better service outcomes.
