Advocacy 101 Pre-Workshop – August 12
Kicking things off on Tuesday morning, August 12, DakCU will host a complimentary Advocacy 101 Pre-Workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CT) at the Delta Hotel in Fargo. This focused two-hour session is designed to equip credit union leaders, staff, and board members with the tools and confidence to become strong and effective advocates. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the current federal legislative landscape, including potential threats to the credit union tax exemption. The session will offer practical, role-specific advocacy tools and provide a ready-to-use messaging toolkit to help define and protect the credit union narrative. Participants will also learn how to clearly articulate the economic and community impact of credit unions. Featured keynote speaker Austin DeBey, Director of Advocacy for the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, will provide valuable insight and expertise. This session is open to all registered Forum attendees. Indicate your attendance at the workshop during registration to ensure accurate headcount planning. Lunch will be provided only to those who select it during registration, if not selected, lunch will not be available. Please register by August 1 to ensure a seat. Register here. DakCU Professionals Forum – August 12 Following the morning workshop, the DakCU Professionals Forum will officially begin at 12:30 p.m. (CT). Lunch will be provided to attendees who sign up for lunch during registration—whether you are attending just the morning advocacy workshop, just the Professionals Forum, or both. *Please note that lunch will only be ordered for those who select this option. This free event is a dues-supported benefit for DakCU member credit unions and brings together professionals from across North and South Dakota for an afternoon of networking, idea-sharing, and collaborative conversation. Unlike traditional conferences, the Professionals Forum is an attendee-driven event. All credit union employees are welcome no matter what their title or department. The only requirement is a willingness to ask questions, engage with peers, and contribute to meaningful discussions. Topics will span a wide range of credit union operations and professional interests, offering a valuable opportunity to learn from fellow attendees’ experiences, insights, and challenges. The forum concludes around 5:30 p.m., followed by a lively social hour at the Delta Hotel, generously sponsored by Millennium Corporate. Attendees can enjoy food, drinks, and fun activities while building stronger connections with peers from across the region. Register here. 9th Annual Foundation Golf Scramble – August 13 The excitement continues the next day with the Dakota Credit Union Foundation’s 9th Annual Golf Scramble on Wednesday, August 13, at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo. This popular fundraiser supports the Sanford Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, with proceeds going toward the new Credit Unions for Kids Micropreemie Unit. Credit union professionals are encouraged to sign up as individual players, form a team, or sponsor the event to help make a difference for children and families in our communities.
