Dawn Van Ash was fresh out of high school and cash poor when her financial institution, a local bank, charged a fee on her savings account. Angry and unsure what to do, she vented her frustration to her dad. He was a member of Oahe Federal Credit Union in Pierre, SD and suggested that she join. She opened her first credit union account on December 1, 1983, and never looked back.
She started working as a teller at the credit union on April 7th, 1987, and worked her way through the ranks to the role of assistant manager and loan officer, then to her current role as the manager/CEO. When Van Ash started at the credit union, Oahe FCU had 2.2 million dollars in assets. Today, the credit union has grown to over $36 million and more than 3,400 members. Her other accomplishments include graduating from CUNA Management School in 2009 and being elected to the DakCU Board of Directors in 2020, representing SD Division B. She has also been the Secretary/Treasurer of the Central Chapter since April 2013. Please join us in congratulating Dawn VanAsh on her long and successful career in the industry! The public is invited to visit Oahe FCU for cake and refreshments in celebration of Dawn on Thursday, April 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 221 E. Pleasant Drive, Pierre. Comments are closed.
