Last year, Dakota West CU (Watford City, ND) received a “start-up” grant from the Dakota Credit Union Foundation for the financial education platform Zogo, and we are very excited to announce that the project has been officially launched since mid-January. Prior to opening the app to their members, this credit union wanted to get “buy-in” from staff, so the new app was introduced at an all-staff meeting in October. Following their annual strategic planning session late in October, a rollout plan was developed. First, before the public launch, Dakota West ran an internal contest for two weeks, offering cash prizes for the top three finishers. This allowed staff to become familiar with the platform so they could answer questions and effectively promote once the time came. Then, they announced on social media and created a page on their website. Future email campaigns are also in the works as part of their overall marketing plan. Staff is currently being trained on how to incorporate Zogo at the account opening point of contact, much in the same way they promote their online banking services, and it has been added to their disclosures so the Zogo info prints out with the new member package. In addition, they are handing out an invitation for members to download Zogo at the drive through, as shown in the image below. “It is these value-added products and services that provide our members with a ‘quick start’ guide to the many benefits of being a member of Dakota West CU. Plus it gives our new members something to do while their account is being opened!” remarked Brian Smiset, Marketing Manager.
Zogo turns fear of financial literacy into fun – which creates opportunities for both credit unions and their members to stay engaged in the financial well-being for all mission. Participants learn as they apply information to real-life situations while receiving immediate feedback, and Zogo does exactly that.
