Dakota CU Foundation Update

3/7/2023

Picture
Congratulations to Jaymason Bramblee who just received a scholarship to attend DE training! Plus, board approves preliminary budget for 2023.
The Dakota Credit Union Foundation held a virtual meeting on Thursday, February 23rd. We are very pleased to announce that Jaymason Bramblee, Loan Officer/Member Outreach at Oahe FCU (Pierre, SD) was approved for a $2,000 scholarship to attend the National Credit Union Foundation’s Development Education (DE) program. As you may recall, the foundation approved two CUDE scholarships, one for each state, in January.  The DE program is now full for 2023; however you can be placed on a waiting list here.

In other business, the foundation board approved a preliminary budget for 2023 which includes money set aside for grants and scholarship in the following areas:
  • Certified financial planner education/certification, such as FiCEP
  • Financial well-being fin-tech platforms, such as Zogo
  • Youth financial education programs, such as Jr. Achievement, Real World, Marketplace for Kids, etc.
  • Professional development education, such as iLead@11 DakCU Emerging Leader Program

To submit a request for a Dakota Credit Union Foundation grant or scholarship, complete the fillable PDF form found here and be sure to list details about what the funds would be used for. Feel free to contact Shawn Brummer with any questions. The foundation board meets monthly and will consider all requests at that time.

Finally, the foundation is moving ahead with an exciting fundraiser: a Vacation Sweepstakes! For each $25 donation, you will be entered for a one (1) chance at a random drawing for a dream vacation package worth $5,000 to a destination of YOUR CHOICE! Each $100 donation will earn you five (5) chances! Options include Disney World, Nashville, Hawaii, Wine Country, basically anywhere you want to go! The Foundation will be holding a very brief (15-20 minutes) Town Hall on Friday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. CT to explain the details. Credit unions are encouraged to attend to learn how you can engage your staff and members on this prize. Invitations will be going out soon.
