Dakota Credit Unions Nationally Recognized

Discover which North and South Dakota credit unions were named among America’s Best Regional Credit Unions 2025 for their outstanding service, community impact, and member-first approach!

Credit unions are the financial backbone of local communities, providing essential banking services, supporting small businesses, and fostering economic growth. As member-owned cooperatives, they prioritize service over profit, offering lower fees, competitive loan rates, and a strong commitment to member satisfaction. Beyond financial services, they actively engage in local initiatives, strengthening the communities they serve.

To recognize credit unions making a significant impact, Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group have named the top 500 best regional banks and top 500 best credit unions in America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2025. The ranking was based on factors such as financial stability (Texas Ratio), profitability, loan and lease data, media and press coverage, customer surveys from over 71,000 individuals, and millions of online reviews.

Among those honored, four North Dakota credit unions received recognition:

• Western Cooperative Credit Union – Williston
• Fargo Public Schools Credit Union – Fargo
• Dakota Plains Credit Union – Edgeley
• United Savings Credit Union – Fargo

Additionally, seven South Dakota credit unions were awarded:

• Oahe Credit Union – Pierre
• Levo Credit Union – Sioux Falls
• Healthcare Plus Credit Union – Aberdeen
• East River Credit Union – Madison
• Dakotaland Credit Union – Huron
• Bluestone Credit Union – Sioux Falls
• Aspen Credit Union – Rapid City
