The global credit union movement celebrated the 77th annual International Credit Union (ICU) Day last Thursday with volunteer events, open houses, awareness campaigns, and more activities to highlight the differences credit unions make every day. More than 412 million people across 101 countries belong to a credit union, according to the World Council of Credit Unions, and this year’s theme was “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.”
We hope you enjoyed the occasion with some fun and recognition. Every day, credit unions across the Dakotas do incredible work to improve the lives of their members and communities, whether it’s sharing online posts about the credit union difference or providing treats for members in branches. Month after month, year after year, their efforts make a meaningful impact. It’s important to share those stories, after all, if we don’t “toot our own horns” a bit, who will? We did a little “Facebook Creeping” to see how you were honoring the day, and here are some of the posts we found. Enjoy, and keep sharing your stories! Bluestone FCU (Sioux Falls, SD) served refreshments and cookies at all branches. Capital CU (Bismarck, ND) had a popcorn bar and brought treats to other area credit unions. Community CU (New Rockford, ND) invited their members in for a treat! Coteau Valley FCU (Sisseton, SD) invited members to stop in and enter for a gift basket. Fargo Public Schools FCU (Fargo, ND) served cookies and apple cider along with chances to win a few door prizes. Fort Randall FCU (Wagner, SD) served a free lunch to members at both of their branches. Huron Area Education FCU (Huron, SD) invited members to stop in for a treat and a chance to win cash prizes. Oahe FCU (Pierre, SD) celebrated by serving a free lunch for members. Service First FCU (Sioux Falls, SD) invited members to stop in for snacks and fun cups. University FCU (Grand Forks, ND) invited members to stop in for a sweet treat. United Savings CU (Fargo, ND) went out and about in their community spreading random acts of kindness Thank you to everyone who joined in the celebrations – until next year then! Comments are closed.
