CUs in the News is a new spotlight series celebrating the incredible work happening across our Dakota credit unions. From standout promotions and community giveback efforts to innovative programs and member-focused initiatives, this series will showcase how our credit unions live out the “people helping people” philosophy each and every day. Dakotaland Federal Credit Union Celebrates Community and School Spirit At Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, staff recently celebrated a week filled with school spirit and community pride during their “Dakotaland Nites" with local teams. The Mitchell branch kicked things off as Branch Manager BJ and Consumer Loan Officer Mike presented proceeds to Mt. Vernon School after selling 227 bags of popcorn during the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans game. Meanwhile, Dakotaland teams in Aberdeen and Watertown bundled up to support the Ipswich Tigers and the Florence/Henry Falcons, cheering on JV and varsity athletes and celebrating the communities they serve. Capital Credit Union Supports Bismarck Public Schools In Bismarck, Capital Credit Union continued its commitment to empowering member success through financial education and community investment. The credit union’s executive team recently presented a $3,000 donation to Bismarck Public Schools’ Guiding Coalition Program, which brings together teams of teachers who collaborate across grade levels and subject areas to strengthen curriculum access and learning opportunities for students across the district. North Star Community Credit Union CEO Named Honorary Commander North Star Community Credit Union announced that CEO Bob Herrington has been selected as an Honorary Commander for Minot Air Force Base. The Honorary Commander Program strengthens relationships between military leadership and the surrounding community by fostering collaboration and understanding. North Star Community Credit Union has long supported the military community, including operating an on-base branch that serves active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Herrington’s participation in the program will further strengthen the credit union’s partnership with Minot AFB and reinforce its commitment to those who serve. Across the Dakotas, these efforts highlight the many ways credit unions continue to support education, community engagement, and the people who make their communities strong. As we continue rolling out our new CUs in the News series, we’re excited to feature even more stories that highlight the cooperative spirit thriving across the Dakotas. Whether it’s leadership announcements, community initiatives, staff achievements, or innovative programs, each update reflects the strength and heart of our movement. If your credit union has exciting news to share, we’d love to highlight it—please send items to Annie Elhard.
