Creative Planning recently shared key HR risk trends and compliance insights with Dakota credit unions through a DakCU webinar.
The Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is pleased to welcome back Creative Planning as a returning Cooperative Alliance Program (CAP) Partner, continuing a valued partnership focused on providing strategic expertise and resources to credit unions across the Dakotas.

As part of this continued collaboration, Creative Planning recently hosted an educational webinar for Dakota credit unions titled “HR Risk Trends in 2026: What Credit Unions Need to Be Ready For,” offering practical guidance on emerging workforce and compliance challenges impacting financial institutions today.

The session explored several rapidly evolving HR risk areas, including artificial intelligence in the workplace, pay transparency requirements, expanding leave obligations, and the growing importance of strong documentation practices. Throughout the webinar, presenters emphasized practical, operational strategies credit unions can implement to reduce risk and improve consistency across HR processes.

Creative Planning highlighted how HR risk is increasingly being shaped by the convergence of multiple operational and compliance challenges happening simultaneously. Speakers encouraged credit unions to focus on creating repeatable workflows, strengthening manager training, and improving documentation standards to support more consistent and defensible decision-making.

Key webinar topics included:
  • Governance considerations surrounding AI-enabled hiring and performance tools
  • Pay transparency trends and compliant job posting practices
  • Leave administration challenges involving overlapping federal and state requirements
  • Documentation standards that strengthen consistency and defensibility in employment decisions
  • A practical 90-day HR readiness framework for credit unions

Creative Planning also shared actionable recommendations for credit unions, including implementing standardized leave intake processes, establishing posting review checkpoints, training managers on escalation procedures, and conducting periodic audits of HR practices and documentation.

DakCU values the continued partnership with Creative Planning and the expertise they bring to Dakota credit unions through educational programming and HR consulting support. Creative Planning’s Human Capital Management team works alongside organizations to strengthen HR operations through policy development, compliance guidance, leadership training, documentation practices, and workforce strategy support.

DakCU looks forward to continuing its partnership with Creative Planning and providing additional educational opportunities for Dakota credit unions in the future.
