Following the conclusion of this year's Annual Meeting & Summit, the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU), in conjunction with Gail Broer of M-O Federal Credit Union (FCU), identified a clerical error in the data entry process used to determine the recipient of the recent Growth & Progress Award.
During the final calculation phase, loan and savings figures for M-O FCU were inadvertently transposed, which led to M-O FCU being mistakenly named as this year’s award recipient. After a thorough review and triple-verification of the corrected data, we have confirmed that Northern Hills Federal Credit Union (FCU) is the rightful and accurate recipient of this year’s Growth & Progress Award. Northern Hills FCU’s impressive year-over-year growth and performance metrics clearly distinguish them as a leader among Dakota credit unions. Northern Hills FCU saw growth at 9.67% for assets, 5.00% in members, 13.51% in savings balances, and 15.02% in loan balances. We sincerely regret the oversight and are taking immediate steps to formally correct the error, including coordinating an in-person award presentation and photo opportunity. To prevent this type of error from occurring in the future, we are also implementing a new internal verification process. This includes a secondary review step for all data entries related to award determinations, ensuring greater accuracy and reinforcing our commitment to fairness and integrity. We congratulate Northern Hills FCU on their well-earned recognition and thank all of our member credit unions for their continued dedication to excellence. Northern Hills FCU is located in Sturgis, SD with branches in Deadwood, Belle Fourche, and Spearfish. Chartered in 1950, they hold over$122M in assets and have more than 9,700 members.
