Rapid City, S.D. – Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) recently raised $1,500 for the Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City. BHFCU teamed up with the Mission, which serves vulnerable women, children, and men, to stock up on bedding and blankets for winter.
BHFCU staff raised money for the effort through a weekly contribution program, a basket raffle, and a raffle for a one-of-a-kind BHFCU quilt. A portion of the $1,500 was used to purchase 44 blankets, nine sets of sheets, and 18 pillowcases. The remaining $680 was donated to the Cornerstone Rescue to Mission to use for whatever will make the biggest impact for their guests. “Each year, we make it a point to team up with the Cornerstone Rescue Mission to help fill their most needed items,” said Amanda Grohs, BHFCU Teller Supervisor. “We hope the 44 blankets donated keep many warm and feeling brighter this holiday season.” The Cornerstone Rescue Mission provides shelter, food, clothing, case management, and various other services to homeless men, women, children, and veterans in the Rapid City area. The Mission provides an average of 9,500 overnight stays each year. BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and donations from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Established in Rapid City in 1941, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative serving more than 92,000 members. The community-chartered credit union has locations in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Sturgis, and Wall, South Dakota.
