Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) was recently honored with the 2022 Granite Award from Elevate Rapid City during their Business Awards Night.
The award is presented annually to a local company that is an asset to the area and a strong supporter of the Rapid City community. Since its establishment in 1941, BHFCU has supported projects and organizations that enrich the Rapid City community, often taking a leadership role to ensure initiative goals are met. That passion for community service spreads far beyond Rapid City across the state of South Dakota. “At BHFCU, support for our community comes naturally, especially when we’ve been doing it for over 81 years,” said Jerry Schmidt, president & CEO. “We know helping our community helps our members, and also supports growth and prosperity for our entire area.” BHFCU thrives on a progressive culture with a brand built on loyalty, trust, and commitment to members and the community. Their focus on providing financial products and services in an equitable, friendly, and engaging way has made them a solid partner in the Rapid City community and a worthy recipient of the 2022 Granite Award. BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, Jeans Day donations, and contributions from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Established in Rapid City in 1941, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-forprofit financial cooperative serving more than 89,000 members. The community-chartered credit union has locations in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Sturgis, and Wall, South Dakota.
