April marks both Financial Literacy Month and Credit Union Youth Month, providing an ideal opportunity for credit unions to engage young members and their families in conversations about money, saving, and responsible financial habits. To support these efforts, this year the Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) is partnering with My First Nest Egg to provide credit unions across North and South Dakota with engaging resources designed to make financial education both fun and meaningful. DakCU is offering member credit unions a free Youth Month toolkit that makes it easy to bring financial literacy into homes and communities. The toolkit is designed to help spark important conversations between parents and children while reinforcing the credit union commitment to lifelong financial education. Included in the toolkit are a detailed parent guide, an interactive learning map for kids, and ready-to-use social media posts that credit unions can use to promote Youth Month and financial literacy initiatives. The interactive learning map is a highlight of the toolkit, offering links to videos, activities, and games that help make learning about money engaging and memorable for young learners. These resources allow credit unions to extend their impact beyond the branch and support families in building strong financial foundations for the next generation. All materials in the DakCU-branded toolkit are available at no cost to member credit unions, made possible through the Association’s continued commitment to advancing financial literacy and supporting the development of financially confident consumers. For credit unions looking to expand their Youth Month outreach even further, My First Nest Egg also offers a customizable “Dive Into Lending” Youth Month package. This fully branded experience helps credit unions engage kids and parents around borrowing in an approachable and interactive way. As a courtesy to DakCU members, credit unions can receive 25% off the custom package using the code MEMBER25. Check out our new Youth Month toolkit here! For additional youth resources, be sure to check out Pee Wee and Friends. This DakCU Pee Wee Penguin Youth Savers' program helps credit union kids in kindergarten through sixth grade learn about saving, smart spending, and other fun financial literacy activities.
