Registration for the credit union movement’s largest advocacy event is now open! The 2025 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center March 2 - 6. Each year thousands of leaders from across the country come together to rally around a united cause — to show legislators how their policies impact credit unions and their more than 130 million members. This year's theme is centered on moving with purpose, passion, and strength. Because together we move. Our shared advocacy, driven by state Leagues and America’s Credit Unions, is how we create the most impact on Capitol Hill. Join us at the largest credit union advocacy event of the year to demonstrate to lawmakers how credit unions improve financial well-being in communities large and small.
ROGER HEACOCK GAC-HTH SCHOLARSHIP

This Dakota Credit Union Association (DakCU) scholarship was created to honor Roger Heacock’s servant leadership and longtime commitment to credit union advocacy and grassroots engagement by providing financial assistance to credit union professionals who are members of DakCU and wish to attend the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) or the DakCU Legislative/Regulatory Hike the Hill (HTH). Assistance varies each year and is based on the number of qualified applicants and funds available. This year, we are excited to be offering four total scholarships to attend the 2025 GAC, valued at $2,500 each.
Scholarship monies allocated to applicants may reach, but not exceed, the cost of attending the conference or event. Deadline to apply is Friday, November 29, 2024. |
GAC CRASHERS

Crashing the GAC is celebrating 16 years of connecting emerging leaders (age 40 or younger) to our industry's brightest minds, deepening their connection to the credit union mission! And once again, Filene and The Cooperative Trust are hoping to get 50 Crashers - one from each state - to attend the GAC in Washington, DC. Crashers receive free conference registration. Travel, lodging, and food costs are the responsibility of the Crasher and their credit union. DakCU is offering a $1,000 scholarship for each of our Dakota crashers. The first step is to be selected. If you are building a career in the industry, we strongly encourage you to apply for this opportunity!

2025 SMALL CU GAC SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
For this year's Small Credit Union Project, America's Credit Unions is asking credit unions to share information on their organizational structure. In the spirit of collaboration, your contribution will help other growing credit unions prepare to expand their own organizations. As credit unions grow by adding products and services to serve more members, preparation can help with succession planning and developing new roles and structures to support the organization's goals. As a result of your participation, other credit union colleagues may contact you for insights regarding your credit union's organizational structure to assist them in solving staffing needs and strategies.
The lucky winner(s) this year will receive full scholarships to the 2025 Governmental Affairs Conference in D.C., March 2-6 (that's right, registration, airfare, hotels, and incidentals.

To make a reservation:
- Click on the unique link for your league and enter password.
- Select the hotel you would like (if your block has more than one).
- Create a password for each reservation they are placing, to secure credit card information.
- Select the arrival/departure dates you would like.
- Enter payment information. A major credit card is required for ALL reservations at the time of booking. Credit cards will not be charged at the time of the reservation.
- Credit Unions will be able to book as individuals or groups (max 10 rooms per group).
Dates to remember:
- Friday, December 20, 2024: Reservations cancelled on or before this date will not be charged a cancellation fee of one night’s room and tax.
- Thursday, December 21, 2024: Reservations cancelled after this date will be subject to a one night’s room and tax cancellation fee per room.
- Friday, January 17, 2025: All league housing must be entered into the housing system.
- Thursday, February 13, 2025: All reservations, changes and cancellations must be made with the Housing Bureau by this date, by 4:30 p.m. (EST).
- February 14 - 18, 2025: During this timeframe the Housing Bureau will transfer reservation information to hotels. No changes can be made during this time.
- February 19, 2025: As of this date, all changes and cancellations must be made directly with the hotel. In addition, all cancellations are subject to a fee equal to one night’s room and tax paid to the hotel.
